The Orphan I Am Chronicles – 43

I’m all about protesting, sometimes it is the only way for many to bring about attention to somethings that NEEDS ATTENTION.

When I was a teenager, I often saw images, reports on tv about those scattered around the country and world who participated in sit-ins, picketing and other various ways to protest an issue, a subject that was more aligned with discrimination, abuse of some form, animal rights as well as equal rights for women, people of all races, amongst a host of other issues important to others.

At the center of it, in many cases, the lack of Democracy here or elsewhere in the world. There are peaceful protests and there are protests which end up being violent, unfortunately. I like to believe that in most protests, the intent is to deliver their message, their complaint in a peaceful way and the violence that follows are from those who will deny them the rights and liberties that desire, that they are certainly entitled to.

It always does my heart proud to see the younger people, teenagers, young adults taking a stand for what is right. It really makes my heart proud to see older adults standing alongside the younger ones, all standing tall and resolute against those who will deny them what they seek, what they are entitled to. Why does those who resist, I mean those who will deny such rights to those who make up their country go on and on denying them a voice and often resorting to violent ways to suppress those who just want to be heard, those who want to ensure a better future for all?

I came across this picture, this powerful image of those wanting such rights and freedoms in Turkey. As you can see, a cop, a riot-cop spraying, no flooding the woman in the red-dress with some type of pepper/tear-gas spray. Her back is clearly turned, from what I read, they had tried spraying her in the face. I will let this image speak for itself. Those in Turkey, stand tall and steadfast in your quest and don’t worry, in time that which you all are for and entitled to, these rights, along with not being censored, will be in your favor.
