The Orphan I Am Chronicles – 34
100 Sandman, not a reference to the character/trade paper back by the talented Neil Gaiman, but the original street address of the orphanage, Deplechin (Faith) Home which I was raised. Deplechin still exists but over the years they have dropped the Faith part of the name. I had not been that way in years and am going to visit the grounds at some point in the future, for research purposes and to reminisce. I want to see if the oblong, white with black letters, street marker is still on that corner, I really hope it is, I’d like a picture of it.
The last time I visited, was sometime after my divorce. Originally there were seven cottages, a dining hall, an administration building, the infirmary and maintenance area. Of coarse on the far end, a rather nice recreation center. But upon my last visit, three, no maybe four cottages were gone. The grounds were always kept nice, we spent so much time outside playing pick-up games of football and well, exploring the grounds and seeing what I could get into. Back then, the campus seemed to be endless, much bigger then it actually is.
So many kids and even adult workers came and went. Most good but as in all things, some bad. I have decided to write a story/book on Deplechin and my life experiences and lessons I learned at such a young age. For the most part, the subject matter will be good and respectful, but also I will be open and honest about some things which some people may take offense to, please don’t. Whether you were/are raised in an actual home or like me, a place like this, there exist ‘issues’ that are negative. Even if such may originate from me or perhaps others, I will be brutally honest in my approach. But take this as somewhat of an introduction on something I will be writing on in the near future,I hope some of you may be interested. pEaCe
